The Neufort

The Neufort. HoD Awaits You.

Borrada had accepted that he was – or had been until today – part of the machine. The Neufort – Dolour’s religious upholders – had jurisdictional sovereignty over The Dáil, and therein, Borrada, like every other Dáil Member, did what he was told to do. It had not stopped him from railing against how they wielded Dolourism as a crook of oppression. It had simply smothered that railing with futility.
During The Neufort’s manoeuvring, Dolour’s faithful fell away but never showed it; never dared. To be Dolourish and uncovered in faithlessness or doubt, or to be handed up for praying inappropriately or for missing prayers, or worse, as blasphemous was to bring upon oneself the homicidal wrath of The Neufort’s Holy Concilium. It was to bring upon oneself a summary judgement, a token final indoctrination of cleansing at Fastnet Rock, and an expeditious termination thereafter.
