Could this not enlighten the lives of Dolour? And Lugubria and the nations; all earth’s nations? Could he not be the one to open these little vials, so eager to have their secrets revealed? Thoughts flitted: that hallucination kingdom; the same putative reality of Gottisttot’s farewell handshake. How clear its joy. How happy its people. How great its claim to upraise humanity. He breathed deep its fresh air.
“I think…” he said. He shook his head for a moment. Lorelei looked across without a twitch or prompt. “I think that God is dead, Lorelei.”
His rabid eyes dared her to think thoughts out of character; or to rebut him; or to disprove what he had said with evidence and Divinatum verse; or to proffer clever insight and reverse psychology and become devil’s advocate.
